Lola Newborn

Our beautiful baby girl!
Born Aug 3, 2011
4:45 am
6lb 7 oz
19 inches long

This is one of my favorites!

Lola is such a doll! I am so in love with that little angel!
Her birth was so different than all of my others... It was really scary.

I think that I had been in labor all week. We went to the hospital 3 times thinking she was coming! It was crazy! So it was Tuesday night and I was scheduled to be induced the next morning, but Lola didn't want to wait. I was having really strong contractions, but I didn't want to go to the hospital again and have them send us home. I was sewing a bassinet cover and trying to ignore the pain. The contractions were getting stronger and closer. At about 1 am they were about 6 minutes apart and so I decided to take a bath and they would pass. They only got worse. Dave took an ambien and told me to just wait til morning. (He thought it was another false alarm). At about 3 am, I couldn't take it any longer, I tried to call my friend to drive me, but she didn't answer. I was putting on my shoes, determined to drive myself and Dave decided to get up and take me.

We left the kids in their beds, called his parents to come over and flew to the hospital.

There was no question, she was coming out that night. They paged the doctor and I got my epidural. A few minutes later, it was time! My epidural still wasn't very strong at that point, but I could no longer feel the contractions. Dr. Terry called in the NICU team because there was meconium in my water. We quickly found out that the cord was wrapped tightly around Lola's neck and they had to get her out fast. Her heart rate was dropping. More NICU nurses and doctors came in. It was really scary, Dave had no expression on his face and knew something was wrong. Dr Terry said that we needed to get her out quick and that they were using forecepts. I have always been terrified with forecepts and didn't want them, but I didn't have much of a choice. Since my epidural wasn't totally kicked in, it hurt so bad! I didn't think I could push her out, but I did.

When she came out, she wasn't breathing and didn't cry. They had to bag her to resuscitate her. Somewhere along the line a hole was blown in her lungs. Its called a numo -thorax. Dave followed her, but I didn't get to see her or hold her for about 6 hours.

I didn't know if she was going to make it, I was terrified. It was the worst feeling I have ever had! I hate to think about the things going through my mind!

We got her back around 10:30 am, she was doing okay. But she kept aspirating and was breathing really fast, so she had to go back to the NICU. She was there for the next week

The day before I had Lola

The night before I had Lola my cute friend Jen wanted to take a few pics. I was totally in labor all day, but I'm really glad that we captured the moment. After the pics, our lives have never been the same.

Fathers Day

My cute kiddo's love their daddy so much! They scream "Daddy" whenever they see him! Recently he had them for 4 days while I was on a girls trip and he did an amazing job! The kids were so happy and the house was clean! He even organized the closet and put away old cloths, can you believe that! I guess I need to do it again soon...

We had a great Fathers day! We are so thankful for Dave! He is such a wonderful father and husband!
